Optimists fail more, yet are more likely to succeed…

During my study of leadership, I came across this quote and I have to admit, it made me feel a little better.
I often feel concerned over just how many life car crashes I have had. I give all sorts of things a go, and they do not always work out as planned. I try to squeeze things in, I over commit and generally just don’t always consider the consequences.
I have worried that this makes me a liability. I may have once been nick named ‘Jenna the liability Burton’ and admittedly, this nick name, may have somewhat re-enforced my fears!
However, I also know that without some of these set backs and downtimes, I would now have learnt as much as I have or have achieved some of the things I have either.
For anyone interested, there is a wonderful speech from J.K Rowling available at the link below discussing the benefit of failure. It is rather inspiring.
We aren’t perfect and we can’t be perfect.
