You Don’t know Where People Are Going, or What They Have Done to Get There.

There is no doubt that it feels great to overtake someone. It makes you feel a little more superior than the person that you have overtaken.
It’s funny but I was (literally) overtaken the most when I was training for a marathon. Yet it was the fittest and fastest that I have ever been. But I was casually running long distances almost daily. So those sprinting would definitely overtake my slower pace at mile 18.
Both of these videos show me with the exact same weight. Yet I would undoubtedly look stronger in the second video when the weights are bigger (but not heavier.)

The point is, despite doing lots of weight training at the moment, I will never be as strong as my good friend Megan Hewitt. Apart from not having put the years in to solely weight training like she has, I’m also not a natural body builder. I have long levers (as she keeps telling me.)
But does it matter?

We are all doing our own little thing. I’m not as strong as when I could smuggle my children in to the gym and when I wasn’t working as much. All our priorities change and the most important thing is that we focus on ourselves and not compare ourselves to physique models or professional athletes who make a living out of looking as good as they do or training to be as good as they are.
